Statecraft Update - Proposed by Kaktus Misiek999 This update would add a deeper political and economic layer to WorldBox without making the game overly complicated. The goal is to keep the system simple, readable, and fun while giving civilizations more identity, more variety, and more reasons to rise, split, collapse, or change over time. Civilizations would be able to follow one of three ideologies: Capitalism, Communism, or Neutral. Capitalism would focus on trade, wealth, private ownership, and growth through business. Communism would focus on shared resources, equality, and stronger state control over the economy. Neutral would be the default balanced option, with no strong economic direction. Ideology would affect how a civilization behaves, what kind of companies appear more often, and how leaders make decisions. The update would also add statecraft systems, or government types, such as Republic, Democracy, Authoritarian System, and Totalitarian System. A Republic would be a structured system with organized leadership and institutions. A Democracy would give more importance to public support and popularity. An Authoritarian System would keep power concentrated in a strong leadership group, making the state more controlled and direct. A Totalitarian System would be the most extreme version, with very heavy control and very little room for opposition. These systems would not need to be highly realistic or complex, but they should make kingdoms feel different from one another. Another important part of the update would be party-based governments. A civilization could be ruled by a political party instead of a single permanent ruler. Parties would have their own ideology and statecraft, and they would try to stay in power. If a party is overthrown, the new ruling party would immediately replace the old system with its own ideology and government type. This would make coups, revolutions, and political shifts matter much more. A kingdom could slowly become democratic, then authoritarian, then republican again, depending on who wins power. That would create better world history and stronger emergent storytelling. Coups would happen in a simple way. If a ruling party becomes weak, loses support, suffers too many defeats, or becomes unstable, another group may rise and take control. A coup would not need to be overly detailed. It could simply mean that the old party is removed, the new party takes over, and the civilization changes direction. This would keep the system easy to understand while still making politics feel alive. Civil wars, rebellions, and elite power struggles could also play into this system and make leadership changes feel natural. Companies would be another major part of the update. There would be three company types: Privately Owned, Publicly Traded, and Nationalised. Privately Owned companies would belong to one owner or a small group of owners. They would be fast, flexible, and focused on profit. Publicly Traded companies would be split into shares owned by multiple people. The biggest shareholder, or group of shareholders, would have the most influence over the company. Nationalised companies would be owned by the state and used for the needs of the civilization rather than pure profit. Trading shares would be a simple but powerful mechanic. In a publicly traded company, shares could be bought, sold, inherited, or taken through power shifts. If one person or one group buys enough shares, they can control the company. If shares are spread too thin, the company becomes easier to influence or take over. This would create corporate rivalries, takeovers, and a natural path for wealth to become political power. It would also make companies feel like something that grows and changes over time instead of just static buildings or names. Nationalised companies would work differently. The state would control them directly, and they would not be driven mainly by profit. They would be more stable and more tied to the government, but less flexible than private companies. In a capitalist system, private and public companies would likely dominate. In a communist system, more companies could become nationalised. In a neutral system, all three types could exist in a more mixed way. A special legendary easter egg system called Corporatocratism could also be included. If this system is selected, the ideology would automatically become Capitalism no matter what the player chose. In Corporatocratism, the owner of the biggest company becomes the ruler. Power would come from shares, wealth, and business influence rather than bloodline or elections. It would feel like an authoritarian system shaped by corporate control. This would be a discoverable and memorable feature that fits WorldBox very well. This update would make civilizations feel more alive, more distinct, and more unpredictable. It would give players more tools to shape the world without making the game too difficult or too realistic. The systems would stay simple enough for WorldBox, but deep enough to create better stories, stronger rivalries, and more interesting worlds. I really hope that the WorldBox Developement Team Implements this update entirely or atleast partially.
