COMMUNITY MANIFESTO & FEEDBACK: THE STATE OF REMATCH To the Sloclap Development Team, This feedback comes from a dedicated player with over 1,000+ hours of experience, active since Season 2. Like many in our core community, I fell in love with Rematch because it offered something no AAA publisher ever had the courage to create: an unconventional, highly mechanical, and expressive football experience akin to FIFA Street and classic anime like Inazuma Eleven. However, recent updates—especially moving into Season 5—have stripped away the core identity of the game in an attempt to cater to a beginner audience that isn't leaving because of the mechanics, but because of matchmaking. Below is an in-depth breakdown of where the game currently stands and what needs to change. --- 1. Dribbling & Movement: The Loss of Core Identity - Removal vs. Polish: Rematch was built on freedom on the ball and expressive dribbling (similar to Brazilian futsal). The solution to high-skill dribbles was never to eliminate or butcher them, but to refine defensive tools, tackles, and positioning so defenders could punish overcommitments. - Gutted Mechanics (Post-Patch): - Double Dash: Reducing its range forces players to hold stance longer after the second dash. The animation becomes extremely slow, giving defenders far too much time to react and tackle easily. - Stance Fakes: Executing a simple fake (holding stance + space, then releasing and pushing forward) now launches the ball a mere 2 meters away with an ultra-slow animation, making it worse than doing nothing at all. - Wing Play: Key moves like the Hazih and Ippy allowed wingers and midfielders to create space and crossing opportunities. Their removal has left play on the flanks completely hollow. - Excessive Stamina Punishments: Stamina now drains like a waterfall. Performing 2 or 3 basic dribble movements without touching sprint completely depletes your bar, leaving your character flat on the ground. Stamina management should make you more vulnerable to losing the ball—not completely paralyze you. --- 2. Gameplay Rhythm & Position Balance - Slower, Repetitive Gameplay: The game has turned into a generic, arcade-style football title. By crippling dribbling and speed, you didn't force teamwork; you simply made the pace slow, tedious, and frustrating. - Goalkeepers & Aerial Meta: While dribbling was gutted, "meta" high passes and headers remain absurdly overpowered. Goalkeepers now feel like they have "short arms" and "butterfingers," unable to defend close-range shots or lightning-fast tactical plays, yet jumping as if they have bricks attached to their calves. - Friction with High-Level Play: In high elo, players already pass the ball because team tactics are required against top squads. Removing individual skill expression doesn't fix high-level play—it just makes fighting for ball possession feel like you are fighting against the game's controls. --- 3. The Root Cause: Matchmaking, Not Mechanics - The Mismatch Problem: The fundamental reason new players quit is not because dribbling is hard; it is because a Bronze/Silver player constantly gets matched against an Elite player. - Flawed Rationale: In what other competitive game (e.g., Valorant) does a Silver player face an Immortal? Caving into complaints from beginners who get crushed by 1,000-hour veterans and removing skill expression changes nothing. Experienced players will still crush beginners through fundamental positioning and passing alone. - Lack of Quit Penalties: Ranked matches currently offer a 3-minute timeout for mid-match rage quits. Without real penalties or fair skill-based matchmaking (SBMM), ranked queues remain frustrating for both veterans and newcomers. --- 4. Price Point & Monetization (Blue Lock Event) - Price vs. Content: Rematch is a premium-priced game. Beginners quit or refund not because it’s too hard, but because the price tag doesn't match the simplified gameplay experience currently being offered. - Rushed Event Implementation: The Blue Lock crossover introduced no new gameplay mechanics beyond skins and an aura mode that is literally just an infinite boost. - Restrictive Cosmetics: Locking anime skins so players cannot mix and match items with their existing inventory limits customization. Furthermore, putting the iconic base dark navy suit behind a paid paywall ($20 USD / R$ 20) instead of a battle pass or event mission feels like an uninspired cash grab aimed at short-term profit. --- Proposed Solutions & Recommendations 1. Revert Severe Dribble Nerfs & Polish Exploits: Bring back the fluidity of Seasons 3 and 4. Convert physics exploits into official core mechanics with balanced stamina costs while still allowing players to dribble while exhausted (high risk, high reward), rather than rendering them useless and erasing the most fun and appealing mechanic in the game. 2. Buff Defensive & Goalkeeper Mechanics: Instead of nerfing attackers into the ground, give defenders sharper tackling tools, better body positioning, and improved goalkeeper reach/reaction times. 3. Fix Matchmaking & Ranked Progression: Implement strict rank parameters so Elite/Immortal players never face Bronze/Silver queues. Increase quit penalties in Ranked matches. 4. Improve the Newcomer Experience: Add an advanced tutorial teaching techniques like the Hazih and Ippy, allowing new players to learn the game's actual identity rather than changing the identity to fit them. --- Final Word: Rematch was on the verge of becoming a legendary competitive title because of its courage to be different. Turning it into a generic "FIFA 2.0" destroys what made it special. We urge the development team to listen to the dedicated community that built this game and restore the mechanics that gave Rematch its soul.
